Enforcement is entrusted with authority under the one parameter that they do not violate the Rights of any citizen.
Back-up is sent for two equally important reasons. Protection of the responding Official, and protection of the rights of the citizen. Any official that witnesses another official violating these standards must report it to their supervisor, and the supervisor must take appropriate and specific action.
Any enforcement person who lacks the integrity and self-restraint to ever utter the words “You do not have the right…” the public and courts consider them “thugs with badges.”
Freedom of speech, civic duty, the right to be heard, presumption of innocence, supporting and upholding the laws of the state are not irrelevant or mundane Issues, and must never be less important than personal opinion or slanderous comments of any citizen as part of their duty.
Rule of law, evidence in hand, due process, accountability and oversight, and the rights of the citizens is their sworn duty.
