Car backs over, kills toddler in Everett

EVERETT -- A 1-year-old girl died Friday evening after being run over in the family's driveway in south Everett, according to police.
The incident was reported about 5 p.m. in a cul-de-sac off SW Everett Mall Way, officer Aaron Snell said.
Officers began life-saving efforts, but the child died at the scene, Snell said.
The driver was backing out of the driveway at the time, Snell said. Details about the driver, including whether he and the child were related, weren't released Friday night.
Detectives were called to the scene. The child's body was expected to be taken to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office.
The investigation was just beginning Friday. There was no evidence of drugs or alcohol being involved, Snell said.
