Re-enactors return for annual Civil War skirmish
Free hot dogs and refreshments will be served during the re-enactment.
Local historian David Dilgard will give a walking tour of the 115 year-old cemetery from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Visitors will see the resting place of more than 150 Civil War veterans, the Grand Army of the Republic monument, the grave of President Barack Obama's great-great-great-grandmother and more.
The Civil War encampment opens at 11:30 a.m. with costumed Union, Confederate and civilian re-enactors. These re-enactors begin the Blue vs. Gray battlefield skirmish at 1 p.m., which is followed by the "Echoes of Blue and Gray" ceremony at 2:30 p.m.
Visitors can see a display of Civil War artifacts inside the funeral home.
