EVERETT — The city has postponed an Aug. 28 hearing to draft interim regulations for recreational marijuana businesses.
The hearing was postponed because the Washington State Liquor Control Board decided to gather additional public comment before enacting regulations for marijuana vendors. The state is expected to delay its final action by two months. The regulatory framework should still be in place by Dec. 1, the deadline set by voters when they passed Initiative 502 last year.
Everett plans to send out a notice when it has selected a new hearing date.
Marijuana remains illegal under federal law.
