LEAVENWORTH — Brisk winds are pushing a ridge-top wildfire toward a couple of homes about 5 miles northeast of the Bavarian-themed village of Leavenworth.
The cause of the Eagle Fire in the Eagle Creek drainage is under investigation. Fire spokesman Mick Mueller said the blaze could be a holdover from a lightning storm a week ago.
The fire was reported Monday afternoon on a ridge top in a roadless area without trails.
Mueller said residents of two homes have been told to be ready to leave if the fire grows. Another 60 homes are in the area.
No structures have been lost. About 120 firefighters are assigned to the fire, but Mueller said more are on order.
