Thursday Seahawks links: Pete Carroll’s holistic approach

No Seahawks story from me in today’s Herald, because I was at Sounders yesterday where the team is preparing for Clint Dempsey’s home debut against Portland. But we’ve still got you covered thanks to this story by Eric Williams of the TNT, who looks at Tony McDaniel and others battling for the open spot on Seattle’s defensive line.

In the years since Pete Carroll has taken over the Seahawks, we’ve often heard him talk about how the team takes a holistic approach when it comes to the players’ health. It’s not just about treating injuries, but also proper diet, yoga, getting enough sleep, etc. Well along those lines, this ESPN story takes a very good look at that topic.

One piece of injury news, Pete Carroll noted Tuesday that rookie Jordan Hill injured his arm in practice, and while he wasn’t scheduled to talk Wednesday, and therefore no update, a TV station in Harrisburg, Penn. is reporting that Hill has a partially torn biceps that will keep him out 3-6 weeks. We should know more after talking to Carroll today.

Russell Wilson chats with the crew of Fox Football Daily, and Brian Urlacher notes, jokingly (sort of) that Russell Wilson ended his career (Urlacher hurt his hamstring chasing Wilson, ending his year, then retired after the season).

Bleacher Report looks at Week 3 of the preseason, and says Aaron Rodgers vs. Seattle’s secondary is a matchup worth studying, even if the game doesn’t count.

Danny O’Neil of 710 ESPN Seattle asks how should Seahawks fans feel about last year’s win over Green Bay.

ESPN.com’s Terry Blount takes a crack at ranking the Seahawks top 10 players.

Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times writes about Jermaine Kearse’s improvement this year.
