Theresa Muchoney of Machias was watching over 10 Duroc piglets and their mother in the 4-H swine barn as the Evergreen State Fair opened officially for its 10-day run. Besides the piglets, carnival rides, corn-on-the-cob and country music were in store for visitors.
The Evergreen State Fair would be a little different this year for Herald reporter Ned Carrick, who had covered the event for each of the past 32 years. This year the Fairgrounds Advisory Board voted to dedicate the fair to Carrick in recognition for his long involvement. He was a marshal in the fair’s opening parade today.
