I would like to commend, praise and thank the Everett Fire Department Medic Unit that was called to Immaculate Conception Church on the evening of Aug. 24.
I was attending 5 p.m. mass that Saturday evening; approximately 300 to 400 people were in attendance. During the priest’s homily, a lady in the congregation had a medical problem. The aid car was called with no commotion. Our deacon and a couple of other people sitting close by kept the lady comfortable.
The aid car arrived with no sirens or noise of any kind. The medic team came in with no fanfare and took over. The lady was unable to walk. So they laid her down on the pew and lifted her to the aisle. Again no noise, no talking; they knew what to do. They did professionally, discreetly, and with great respect.
The priest was able to finish his homily and I am sure there were people present who never knew there was a problem.
We should be very proud of our Everett Fire Department medics.
We only see a small portion of what they do.
