DARRINGTON — Three hikers who called 911 on Monday to report themselves lost later made it out of the woods to safety, according to police.
The hikers were in the Whitehorse Mountain area near Darrington about 6 p.m. and said they couldn’t find their way out, Snohomish County police spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.
The Sheriff’s Office sent its SnoHawk 1 helicopter and other officers to search for the group. Shortly before 8 p.m. the group called 911 dispatchers in Skagit County to report they had made it to safety, Ireton said.
