KEIZER, Ore. — Everett’s bid for a first-half division title ended Sunday as the AquaSox lost to Salem-Keizer 3-1 in Northwest League baseball action.
The defeat, coupled with Tri-City’s come-from-behind 5-4 win over Hillsboro, leaves Everett two games behind the North Division-leading Dust Devils with one game to play.
The first half ends after Monday night’s slate of NWL games.
On Sunday, Kevin Rivera hit a run-scoring triple in the third inning, then scored on a forceout to give Salem-Keizer a 2-0 lead.
After Salem-Keizer added a run in the fourth on a home run by Heath Quinn, the AquaSox cut into the deficit in the sixth inning when Nick Zammarelli hit an RBI single, driving in Eric Filia.
Salem-Keizer right-hander Melvin Adon (1-3) picked up the win. He allowed one run on four hits over 52⁄3 innings. Opposing starter Tim Viehoff (0-2) took the loss. Viehoff allowed three runs and three hits over four innings.
