The Gorge will give one last big yelp this weekend, as the season’s last major music festival makes it way to the venue.

The KISW Pain in the Grass takes over the venue today and Saturday, bringing a long list of hard rock acts to the venue, as well as some of the bigger names from the 1990s alt-rock explosion. Both shows start at 1:30 p.m.

Today’s lineup includes Avenged Sevenfold, Volbeat, Him, All That Remains and more.

The bill is slanted toward more contemporary names — Avenged Sevenfold remains a force on the charts, with its 2012 album, “Nightmare,” hitting No. 1.

Saturday’s lineup, meanwhile, features Alice in Chains and Jane’s Addiction as its biggest names.

Both acts have put out new albums in recent years, although fans are most likely to prefer older hits from the early 1990s, when the grungy groups were at their creative and commercial peak.

Tickets for the festival are $73.90 for single-day passes or $117.10 for two-day passes at ticketmaster.com or 800-745-3000.

In Seattle, the hottest tickets of the week are for two small, sold-out shows by the band Grouplove, which is touring as it prepares to release its sophomore album.

The act will hit the Crocodile at 8 p.m. Monday and the Triple Door at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Grouplove is among the indie rock acts that got a bump from Apple, which featured its single “Tongue Tied” in commercials for the iPod Touch.

The track became a crossover hit, reaching both the modern rock and Hot 100 charts.

The band is now back with its sophomore album, “Spreading Rumours,” expected in stores on Sept. 17. The disc features another hit single, “Ways to Go,” which again features dueling vocals of singers Hannah Hooper and Christian Zucconi.

Tickets are sold out but may be found at a markup on stubhub.com.

Kid Cudi is also coming to town as he tours behind his new album, “Indicud,” which hit. No 2 on the charts.

The hip-hop star will play the WaMu Theater at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Kid Cudi first made his name with the hit single, “Day ‘n’ Nite,” a hit on the dance and pop charts in 2008.

The rapper followed up that success with a hotly anticipated debut, “Man on the Moon: The End of Day.”

Since then, he’s released two more albums. All three of his records have debuted in the top 10 on the Billboard 200.

Tickets are $50 at ticketmaster.com or 800-745-3000.

The Weeknd is coming to the Paramount Theatre at 7 p.m. Tuesday, as the R&B singer prepares to release his buzzed-about major label debut, “Kiss Land.”

The singer built up a following online with a trio of mysterious, druggy EPs. Along with attracting critical acclaim, the singer drew interest from major labels.

After signing with Universal Republic, he reissued the EPs as a single album and went to work on a new record.

That album is expected in stores this month, so expect to hear new material at the Seattle show.

Tickets are $36.20 at stgpresents.org or 877-784-4849.

Finally, Bonnie “Prince” Billy will play the Neptune Theatre at 9 p.m. Saturday.

The prolific indie folk artist has released music at a hectic rate for the past decade, putting out at least one or two albums every year.

His latest, “What the Brothers Sang,” found him partnering with Dawn McCarthy for an off-center collection of Everly Brothers songs.

Tickets are $23 at stgpresents.org or 877-784-4849.
