KENNEWICK — The Everett Silvertips remained undefeated in the preseason after beating the Kootenay Ice 8-6 Saturday morning in a wild encounter at the Tri-City Americans Preseason Tournament.
Manraj Hayer and Patrick Bajkov each scored two goals as Everett won a game that swung back and fourth throughout. The game was tied at 1-1, 2-2, 3-3 and 4-4 before Everett built a 6-4 lead by scoring the final three goals of the second period. Kootenay twice pulled within one in the third, but Ivan Nikolishin’s goal with less than four minutes remaining sealed it for the Tips.
Kevin Davis, Logan Aasman and Austin Adam also scored, while Brayden Low and Carson Stadnyk chipped in three assists for Everett (5-0), which has exploded offensively in the preseason. The Tips, who scored the fewest goals in the league last season, found the net 22 times in their past three games. Nik Amundrud earned the win in goal with 19 saves.
Collin Shirley had two goals and an assist to lead Kootenay (0-3). Kyle O’Connor, Matthew Alfaro, Jordyn Boyd and Austin Vetterl scored the other goals for the Ice, while Wyatt Holfin stopped 26 shots in net for Kootenay.
Everett concludes the preseason with a home-and-home set against Seattle next weekend.
