Snoqualmie Valley teachers OK contract

SEATTLE -- Snoqualmie Valley teachers have approved a new three-year labor contract.
The Seattle Times reported that teachers ratified the pact, 174-121.
The Snoqualmie Valley Education Association spokesman Dale Folkerts tells the paper that the vote came Sunday night.
Teachers will get a 2 percent raise each year.
Class size played a key role and the paper reported the contract allows teachers various options when student numbers reach certain levels, including extra pay or more planning or aide time.
Association President Lisa Radmer said the vote reflected the frustration of teachers.
Negotiations began in April and the teachers' contract expired Aug. 31 without a new deal.
The district serves about 6,200 students from Fall City, North Bend and Snoqualmie.
