At Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, the high was 93, eclipsing the old Sept. 11 record of 87, set in 2009. Weather Service meteorologist Ni Cushmeer says records have been kept at the airport since 1945.
At the Olympia airport, the high of 91 was also a record. The old high temperature for the date of 88 was set in 2011.
Bellingham’s high of 83 tied a record set in 1975.
The Weather Service says temperatures will ease over the weekend as clouds move into Western Washington, bringing a chance of showers by Sunday night when the Seahawks play San Francisco in Seattle.
