KETCHIKAN, Alaska — An Alaska man has developed a smartphone app to help people learn the Tlingit language.
KRBD radio reported Simon Roberts of Klawock has developed the app for iPhones and Android phones.
Roberts says it’s the first of three levels to help people learn the southern Tlingit dialect.
The first app, which is free, has 100 words written in English and with an audio cut pronouncing it in Tlingit.
Level 2 of the app should be available later this month, and the third level about a month later.
Those wishing to find the app on their phone should search for Southern Tlingit 1.
