EDMONDS — Jackson’s Drew Locknane scored the game-tying goal in the 67th minute and the Timberwolves earned a 1-1 draw against Edmonds-Woodway on Thursday.
Rylee Peterson headed home a Savanah VanCitters cross in the 25th minute to give Edmonds-Woodway the lead.
But Locknane’s shot through traffic from the top of the 18-yard box eluded Warriors goalkeeper Kiera Towell for the equalizer.
The Timberwolves created the best opportunity in overtime when Kristina Serres had a breakaway opportunity but Towell coming off her line and pressure from backtracking Edmonds-Woodway defenders forced the shot to go wide.
Although his team couldn’t hold the lead, Warriors head coach Bill LeCompte was not unhappy with the draw, which kept Edmonds-Woodway undefeated and atop the Wesco 4A South standings.
“I don’t think (the draw) is a disappointment,” said LeCompte. “We tied a really good team, but we didn’t play well. We got to find a way to be more consistent. Jackson is a much improved team and definitely put us under pressure.”
