Not a lot of significant news out of Pete Carroll’s Monday press conference, which generally is good news since Monday is sometimes when injury news is announced.
On defensive end Red Bryant, who left Sunday’s game with back spasms, Carroll said, “He’s got a sore back today. He’s kind of stiff and all of that. He kind of in an awkward position and just tweaked it. He’s got muscle spasm, and usually those can get taken care of in three or four days, so he should be all right.”
Jermaine Kearse was in a walking boot in the locker room after injuring his ankle, but Carroll said the second-year receiver is doing better today: “He was getting around pretty well today. From what I heard leaving the stadium yesterday, he got rid of the boot, so he was trying to show us that he’s ready to go, so we’ll see what happens.”
Right tackle Brendo Giacomini left the game with a sore knee—he had been on the injury report last week with a knee injury—and Carroll said when asked if there were other injuries from the game, “Breno’s a little sore today, he’s got a sore knee. A couple of guys got knocked around, but we’ll see how that goes. Can’t tell yet. Nobody has any injuries, but we’ve got some guys who are banged up.”
Asked if Giacomini came out because of that sore knee or because the Seahawks were trying to get Michael Bowie some playing time, Carroll said, “We though the needed a break. He was hobbling a little bit.”
Center Max Unger never left the game until late when most of the starters were pulled, but he did appear sore at times, and Carroll said, “Max’s left arm was bothering him a little bit.”
And finally, linebacker Malcolm Smith, who missed the game with a hamstring injury, should be back this week.
“He’ll be ready to go,” Carroll said. “Malcolm could have gone this week—by the end of the week he made it back—but roster wise we had situated it to go the other way, so we held him out.”
