EVERETT — A new bank branch is coming soon to Hoyt Avenue.
HomeStreet Bank plans on Oct. 15 to open its fourth bank branch in Snohomish County. It will be the bank’s first branch in the city and be located in Library Place, a mixed-use building adjacent to the Everett Public Library.
HomeStreet Bank was started in 1921 and is headquartered in Seattle. It’s a state-chartered savings bank with a network of 23 retail bank branches, 34 home loan centers and three standalone commercial lending centers in the Pacific Northwest, California and Hawaii.
An Everett branch gives the bank a greater opportunity to serve the entire Snohomish County market, said Dennis Floyd, vice president and corporate marketing director for HomeStreet Bank.
“We have looked for some time for an Everett location and this opportunity came along with the Library Place building and all the amenities,” he said. “We wanted to have a hub office for Snohomish County that would combine not only banking services but would allow us to have a commercial banking team in Everett.”
The bank’s branch at 2720 Hoyt Ave. is a welcome addition to Everett, said Craig Skotdal, president of Skotdal Real Estate, the developer of Library Place. HomeStreet Bank has leased the two retail spaces in the building, Skotdal added. The branch will be located on the corner of California Street and Hoyt Avenue in an approximately 1,589-square-foot space. A commercial loan center is planned to take up an approximately 2,038-square-foot area near the Everett Public Library.
“We’re excited to welcome HomeStreet Bank to downtown Everett,” Skotdal said. “We toured several of their branches and we’re very impressed with their design and quality. It will be a new business for Everett and we always view that as a win.”
The second phase of Library Place opened in March 2012 and including the two retail spaces and 178 apartment homes. Skotdal Real Estate last year bought the former Everett Elks Club Building out of foreclosure. The building at the corner of Hoyt Avenue and California Street includes nine apartment homes and is called The South Stack. Both buildings are now at full occupancy.
Marilyn Boe, the manager of the HomeStreet Bank’s Marysville branch since 2000, will be the retail bank branch manager in Everett. Boe has started meeting people from businesses, nonprofits and other organizations in the city and said she is looking forward to working in Everett. HomeStreet Bank will be part of future celebrations and festivities that occur on Hoyt Avenue, the city’s Arts and Festivals Street, Boe added.
“Everyone has just extended a hand and couldn’t be more gracious and welcoming,” she said. “I think it’s a very good fit for us.”
The HomeStreet Everett branch is scheduled to be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. For more information about HomeStreet Bank, visit www.homestreet.com.
