Seattle Rep opens season with comedy

The Seattle Repertory Theatre opens its 2013-14 season Friday night with a modern version of Carlo Goldoni’s “The Servant of Two Masters,” a classic Italian comedy.

“Servant” stars Steven Epp as the wily Truffaldino, who hopes to double his income by working for two different bosses.

The onstage antics are enhanced by improvisation, live music and the universal comedic theme, mistaken identity.

Director Christopher Bayes (“The 39 Steps” and Intiman’s “A Doctor in Spite of Himself”) is currently an associate professor at the Yale School of Drama.

“The Servant of Two Masters” continues with evening and matinee performances Wednesdays to Sundays through Oct. 20.

There is a captioned performance at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 3 and an American Sign Language-interpreted and audio-described performance at 2 p.m. Oct. 19.

A lobby talk with members of the artistic team takes place Oct. 1 and post-play discussions with cast members will be Oct. 6, 10, 13 and 16.

Tickets are $12 to $80 and available by calling the box office at 877-900-9285 or online at www.seattlerep.org.

The Seattle Repertory Theatre’s Bagley Wright Theatre is at Seattle Center at Second Avenue and Mercer Street.

Agatha Christie’s famed detective, Hercule Poirot, makes his debut in “The Hollow.” The play, based on the Christie novel, opens tonight at Curtain Call Theatre Bothell.

“The Hollow” is a country house murder mystery as all the players, including the philandering doctor, his wife and his two mistresses, wind up together at a weekend gathering.

Poirot must unravel the guest/suspect list when the good doctor is killed.

“The Hollow” continues with evening performances on Fridays and Saturdays and matinees on Sundays through Oct. 12 at Music Hall at Everett Mall, 1402 SE Everett Mall Way, Everett.

Tickets are $12 to $15 and may be purchased at brownpapertickets.com or by calling 800-838-3006. Tickets are also available at the box office one hour before performances.
