During the Aug. 29 rain storm that flooded many Everett homes and businesses, Red Cross’s Everett location suffered extensive damages. As a result, our first floor offices and classroom are unusable for at least three months. We’ve doubled up staff and volunteer desks in available second floor office until our first floor space is usable again, but we had no place to teach First Aid, CPR and other lifesaving skills classes. IAM 751, the Machinists’ Union, stepped in to offer their Airport Road union hall to us to hold classes. This is no small undertaking — we teach classes weekdays, weeknights and weekends.
On behalf of our staff, volunteers and board of directors, I want to thank IAM 751 and its members for their generous and gracious support of Red Cross and of our community. Their generosity is yet one more example of their exceptional community spirit.
