BAKER CITY, Ore. — Authorities say a pit bull has mauled a 5-year-old boy to death in Baker City.
District Attorney Matt Shirtcliff told the Baker City Herald the attack happened Friday morning and remains under investigation. The boy was at a friend’s home when the dog attacked.
Police Chief Wyn Lohner said the pit bull has been impounded and poses no further threat. He said more information will be released Monday.
The boy has been identified as Jordan Ryan of Baker City.
A memorial was to be held Sunday night in front of the kindergarten he attended. An organizer, Cassie Glerup, said candles will be lit and balloons will be released.
