You can help shed some light on the Skagit Watershed Letterbox Trail celebration Oct. 12 by making a luminary to reflect the theme of bioluminescent creatures.
The Skagit Conservation Education Alliance celebration at Padilla Bay Reserve takes place from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 12. with aquariums, exhibits, videos and glowing luminaries shaped like the watershed creatures. Light refreshments will be served.
The free workshop to create luminaries takes place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the Breazeale Interpretive Center at Padilla Bay Reserve, north of Highway 20 at Padilla Bay Reserve, 10441 Bayview-Edison Road, Bayview.
Teens and adults can learn to make simple to complex luminaries in the shapes of sea creatures. Materials are free or low cost, depending on the design. Children can make simple jellyfish.
You can learn how to light up your luminary for the Oct. 12 celebration at workshops from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at the center.
