It was a five percent increase of their gift last year.

Arthur C. Rhodes, USN seaman and son of Dorothy M. Duborko of 1405 9th St., Marysville, was serving aboard the attack transport USS Calvert. Operating out of San Diego, it was participating in amphibious operations off the California coast.

The Snohomish County Mycological society was hosting its popular fall mushroom show in Floral Hall at Forest Park. The show featured row after row of mushrooms, edible, inedible and poisonous, along with experts to answer questions, guide books, cook books, information on preservation and much more.

Snohomish County Cooperative Extension had two free lectures coming up at its education center in Everett. John Kleyn, a master gardener, would discuss recent developments in plant propagation. Dave Pebling would discuss household bugs and structural pests.
