Crime writer Ann Rule to sign books at Whidbey restaurant
Rule's book, "Practice to Deceive," follows the 2003 murder of Russel Douglas, who was found shot between the eyes in his car in a remote area about four miles from Freeland the day after Christmas.
The tangled list of suspects, included an aging beauty queen, her lover and Douglas' estranged wife. The investigation led Whidbey Island detectives to Florida, Las Vegas, California and back, and took nine years before anyone was brought to trial.
"Practice to Deceive" lists for $26.99. Rule will also autograph up to six copies of her earlier books after the signing is over.
