Nunes, who wore a safety harness while on the roof, promised her students that she would spend the day on top of the school if they sold 2,500 tubs of cookie dough during the school's annual PTA fundraiser.
"I took my career to new heights today" Nunes said from the roof where she spent some of her time playing the guitar. Nunes taught music before becoming a school administrator.
Nunes picked the day two weeks ago, clearing her schedule. She promised the students she would be on the roof rain or shine, as long as they met their goal of 2,500 tubs of dough.
"It's a lesson in two things," Nunes said. "Goal setting and safety."
Nunes was waiting on the roof when students arrived Tuesday morning, and she was to stay on the roof until 3:30 p.m. before heading to the library to read to students as part of a scheduled "read-in."
