Four Tips prospects chosen for U-16s

All the rosters for the Western Canada U16 Challenge Cup have now been released, and Everett has four prospects who will be taking part in the event, which takes place Oct. 31-Nov. 3 in Calgary. The event pits the top 1998-born players from the four western Canadian provinces in a round-robin tournament.

Everett has two forwards on Team B.C. First-round bantam pick Tyson Jost was drafted out of Leduc, Alberta. However, he's now playing and living in Kelowna, so he's a big addition for B.C. and a big loss for Alberta. Also making the roster was seventh rounder Keyvan Mokhtari.

The Tips also have two members of Team Manitoba. Winger Kevin Jakisch, who was a fourth-round pick, made the team. So did defenseman Darby Gula, who went unselected in the bantam draft but was listed by the Tips. Gula was not at Everett's training camp, but it didn't take long for the Tips to add him to their list. Team Manitoba, by the way, is being coached by Everett's longtime Manitoba scout Doug Sinclair.

Everett does not have any players on Team Alberta or Team Saskatchewan. Considering the Tips drafted just two players out of Alberta (none earlier than the fifth round) and none from Saskatchewan, this is not a surprise.
