MONROE – Highway 522 is scheduled to be closed from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. tonight from U.S. 2 to the 164th Street SE-Main Street intersection for utility work.
A detour will guide drivers around the closure via Main Street, Fryelands Boulevard and U.S. 2.
During the closure, a Snohomish County Public Utility District crew plans to reinstall a power line that was temporarily removed so contractor crews working for the state Department of Transportation could safely use a crane to install a noise wall in the area. No loss of electricity to nearby residents is expected.
The work is part of the Highway 522 widening project, in which two new westbound lanes are being added to the highway from U.S. 2 to the Snohomish River Bridge south of Monroe. The project is scheduled to be finished in late 2014.
