Weekend fun: Halloween, beer, magic, art and more

In season: Some Halloween events are already getting going this weekend. Check out our list here. Now is also a great time to visit a pumpkin patch or corn maze. We have a big list right here.

Halloween happening: A Fairy Scary Halloween Celebration takes place at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Snohomish Library, 311 Maple Ave. Wear a costume and win a prize. Create a fairy house with all natural material like sticks, moss, rocks and seashells. There will be treats. The event is free and for the whole family. Fuzzy fluff: Fiber Fusion NW is a chance to learn about natural fibers for spinning, weaving, knitting, crocheting and felting. It’s from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe. Admission and parking are free. Radio play: The Kaddywompas Radio Show presents “The Ghost of Kaddywompas” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Tim Noah Thumbnail Theater, 1211 Fourth St., Snohomish. The Kaddywompas Players deal with ghosts in the potato patch, and guest Richard Fynn entertains with Halloween songs and ghostly tales. Come in costume and you may win a prize. Tickets are $15, or buy three and get one free here.

Goodnight, blooms: Get your garden all tucked in for the winter in a free workshop, Putting Your Garden to Bed, with master gardener Wink Cushman from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Evergreen Arboretum &Gardens, 145 Alverson Blvd., Everett. Meet at the entrance of the arboretum.

Magic show: Illusionist and magician Christian Ford will perform at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at The Historic Everett Theatre, 2911 Colby Ave. Get more info about the show and tickets here.

Reunited: Camano Island artist Jack Gunter, who recently returned from Siberia where he went to retrieve paintings that had been stuck in the former Soviet Union since 1989, will have a “pop-up” exhibit of the paintings from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday at Cassera Arts Premiers Gallery, 106 First St., La Conner. Brews &Bluegrass: Taste beer or wine and enjoy live music on Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Edmonds Senior Center. Adult tickets are $35 and include eight tastings of beer or wine. The event is a fundraiser for Clothes for Kids. Get more details and tickets here.

A Hoedown: The Heybrook Hoedown is from 4 to 10 p.m. on Saturday at Outdoor Adventures’ River House in Index. The bluegrass music dance, raffle and silent auction will raise funds for trail development in the 100-acre park on Heybrook Ridge between the north and south forks of the Skykomish River at Index. Tickets at the door are $25, kids under 12 get in free. Food and drinks are available from River House kitchen. Live music by Spare Rib and the Bluegrass Sauce starts at 7 p.m.

Dogs and apples: Apple Day is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Bayview Corner on Whidbey Island. There will be apple pressing and plenty of different apples to taste. Bring along your dog, preferably in costume, for the Mutt Strut, which begins at 10:30 a.m. There will be contests and food. Get more details here.

Woof! Dogtober Fest is from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at The Irishmen, 2923 Colby Ave. Everett. The event is a fundraiser for pets in need. A $5 donations will get you a trivia card and door prize ticket. Trivia begins at 2 p.m. Event is 21 and over. Well-behaved dogs are welcome outside.

Arty: Wander around Everett from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday during Art Walk. Check out galleries and studios while enjoying refreshments &hors d’ oeuvres. More info here.
