SEATTLE — The Navy says it plans to fund the return of the Blue Angels flight team to Seattle’s Seafair summer celebration in 2014.
Seafair spokeswoman Melissa Jurcan said festival officials have been hoping for the team’s return next summer. On Monday, the Navy said it plans on funding a full 2014 Blue Angels tour despite spending cuts.
The Seattle Times reported that even in view of Monday’s announcement, Seafair organizers are tempering their optimism because of the potential for continuing budget disputes.
The Blue Angels show was canceled this past summer after sequestration forced funding cuts.
