YELM — A Thurston County sheriff’s officer says two people suffered “pretty serious burns” when a 55-gallon drum of gas exploded in the back of a van in the Yelm area.
The Olympian reported that Sgt. Ray Brady said the man and woman were airlifted Tuesday to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Brady says they were unable to immediately speak to detectives.
Investigators weren’t sure why the drum exploded, or how much gas was in it.
