Percy Harvin returned to practice this week, but he won’t be making his Seahawks debut Monday night, Pete Carroll said.
“We’re managing this rehabilitation and trying to do it really right,” Carroll told reporters after Saturday’s practice. “We worked him hard then we rested him, we’ll continue to do that until his conditioning is caught up and he’s ready to go. He won’t be playing in this game, I can tell you that. He won’t be able to do this this quick. Next week we’ll start it up and be day-to-day again and just try to bring him along. We’re really excited about getting this close to his return and we’ll just when it’s right to do that.”
Asked how Harvin did in his first week back, Carroll said: “He did fine. He looked great when we were working him, and then we needed to rest him and make sure he can handle the work load. He’s a hard-charger, he’s not going to sit back. When he goes, he goes, so we’ve got to make sure to manage that really well. We’re totally pleased with how he’s worked to get back and as soon as we can do it we will, but when it’s right.”
The news is better on linebacker Bobby Wagner, who is set to return after missing just two games with a high ankle sprain.
“He made it through,” Carroll said. “He’s going to play in the game… He’s maybe two or three weeks ahead of what you would think would happen.”
Asked if that meant Wagner would return to his role as Seattle’s starting middle linebacker, Carroll said, “We’ll determine that based on what happens, but I really think he has a chance to play. Let’s leave it at that for now.”
The Seahawks certainly have the linebacker depth to ease Wagner back in in a limited role should they choose to go that direction.
On Michael Robinson, who was re-signed earlier in the week, Carroll said they’re expecting the fullback to take on a usual work load: “We’re going to count on Mike to jump right in. he’s going to be right in the flow of the game and play just like normal. We haven’t had to change anything, he’s picked up right where he left off, like you think he would. He looks good, he’s in good shape, he’s taken good care of himself, so we’re anxious to get him involved in the game.
Carroll also noted that receiver Golden Tate, who injured his shoulder in Arizona, is fine.
