Everett lands a starring role in ‘Architect’ movie

Everett gets another brush with Hollywood fame starting this week.

A film crew is shooting a movie called “The Architect” starting today with work on several locations planned through mid-November.

It features James Frain, a British actor from the Showtime series “The Tudors,” HBO’s “True Blood” and the movie “Tron: Legacy”

“This is a very talented team, and we’re looking forward to seeing Everett on the big screen again,” said Lanie McMullin, city’s executive director for economic development, in a statement.

This is the second movie filmed in Everett in less than a year. In May, a crew shot the action drama “Seven Minutes,” which is in post-production, according to the International Movie Database.

“The Architect” is about a married couple who wants to move into a new house. They hire an architect played by Frain who doesn’t make the house of their dreams.

Instead he makes his own, and that’s where the tension begins.

The story is directed by Jonathan Parker, who is also one of the producers. Famous cast members include Parker Posey, an American actress known notably for “Hemingway &Gellhorn” and “Price Check,” and Eric McCormack, a Canadian actor who plays in the TNT series “Perception.”

“There are three producers of the movie — Lars Ulrich (Metallica’s drummer), Catherine Di Napoli and (Parker),” said Meghan Pembroke, the city’s spokeswoman.

Filming might cause some inconvience for some north Everett homeowners. The film’s crew is shutting down several roads starting this morning — Rucker Avenue between 13th and 14th streets and 13th Street between Hoyt and Rucker avenues.

People in the neighborhood were also asked to remove their Halloween decorations. A couple of private houses will be used for the movie.

The tradeoff for the inconvenience is the money that the crew will bring into the city, Pembroke said.

Businesses will reap profits with the cast and crew patronizing coffee stands, restaurants and other stores.

“Films develop our economy,” Pembroke said.

And people in the county will get to see familiar locations on the big screen.

Moviemakers are starting to recognize all that Snohomish County has to offer, Pembroke said.

“We have mountains, waterfront, and old houses on Rucker Avenue. Plus, we don’t have traffic jams” she said. “We work hard to help movie crews. We have a streamlined process … to make Everett more attractive for movie shooting.”
