I would like to encourage all those living in the Everett Public School District to vote to re-elect Carol Andrews to the Everett School Board. I serve on the Everett Public Schools Foundation, have a 6th grader at Gateway Middle School and have seen the benefits of having Ms. Andrews serve on the School Board of this exceptional district. During her tenure there have been successful teacher contract negotiations, in spite of a severe recession and decreased state funding. Ms. Andrews has overseen the allocation of designated levy and bond funds to construct, remodel, rebuild and/or improve many district schools.
There have been many positive changes under Ms. Andrews’ leadership. The district has seen graduation rates increase, implemented Common Core Curriculum, and is a model for STEM education. Ms. Andrews is an accountant and as a board member oversees a multimillion-dollar budget which includes operational and capital expenditures designated by the state of Washington and voters.
Being an Everett School Board member takes more than a passion for kids. The Everett School District needs strong board members who can ensure students have the 21st Century skills, can recruit the best teachers and build or remodel school buildings that foster collaboration and education. Ms. Andrews has my vote for the Everett School Board.
