ARLINGTON — Monroe earned a tie with Arlington on Wednesday, but it wasn’t enough to qualify for the postseason, coming up one point short of the third and final 4A North berth behind Mount Vernon.
The Bearcats got on the board first when Kylee Billings scored off a Jamie Hawkins assist in the second minute. Monroe had several chances to add to its lead in the first half, but were unable to capitalize.
Monroe’s lead stood until the 70th minute when Olivia Larson scored the equalizer off of a Mckenzie Buell assist for the Eagles.
With Arlington’s postseason seeding already decided, head coach Nathan Davis said “the emotion of senior night really helped carry us through.”
Davis said Monroe goalkeeper Sydney Day made some key saves late in the second half and overtime to keep the scored tied, but the Bearcats were unable to find a go-ahead goal.
