Blackmouth in the San Juans

Fishermen in the San Juan Islands are switching over to blackmouth now -- from adult chinook and coho -- with Eagle Bluff the best bet so far, according to Kevin John at Holiday Sports in Burlington.

Fish are going 8 to 10 pounds, and taking UV Coho Killers or small, whole herring trolled quickly behind a flasher. John said good reports also are coming from Hein, Eastern and Salmon banks for early fish. Closer to home, try Lopez Flats or Reef Point.
