What gives a pharmacy the right to sell my confidential information to the highest bidder? I thought there were laws protecting this information. Kusler’s Pharmacy in Snohomish just recently sold all their customers to Rite Aid. This is my personal and private information, including my name, date of birth, Social Security number, address, phone numbers, medical diagnosis, prescription records and allergies, without so much as a courtesy call to ask me where I wanted my information to go, I should have been the one to choose who gets this private and privileged information, not who ever pays the most money for it.
When I worked at Kusler’s several years ago I had to sign a NDA (non-disclosure agreement) and confidentiality agreement that I would never disclose any customer’s information. Where is the pharmaceutical ethics board in all of this?
I think the pharmacy was totally unethical, not only did it sell their long-time and loyal employees down the river, with little to no notice, but it sold all of their loyal customers right along with them.
