LACEY — The Lacey Fire District chief said a fire that swept through a Lacey home killed one person early Saturday morning, but three others managed to escape.
District chief Steve Brooks said the blaze was first reported around 6 a.m. Saturday. When crews arrived at the scene, Brooks said they found the home almost fully engulfed in flames.
The Tacoma News Tribune reported Sunday the fire crew were told a person was inside the home when they arrived, but Brooks said the fire made access difficult. Brooks said controlling the fire took about 20 minutes.
The Thurston County Coroner’s office said the adult who died is presumed to be a woman. Positive identification through dental records is pending.
