YAKIMA — Yakima police say a man robbed a Fred Meyer store as officers were investigating a bomb threat Sunday.
Investigators received a report of a bomb being left at a grocery store that has multiple locations in the city. As officers were checking those stores, someone armed with a handgun robbed a teller at a Fred Meyer and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
But there were officers nearby, and they say they nabbed the 36-year-old after a short foot chase. There were no reported injuries, and police did not immediately find the gun.
Police say they’re investigating whether the suspect had any accomplices.
