SEATTLE — Seattle police say they’ve arrested four people who were occupying a Central District school building slated for renovation.
The department said Tuesday it made the arrests at the request of Seattle Public Schools. The protesters had made demands that included more teaching of black history, and police said they had claimed to have explosives as well as a rooftop sniper.
The four remained from what had been a larger collection of community groups working out of the Horace Mann building since the summer. The district reached an agreement allowing them to rent space elsewhere, and most moved out. A small group remained and was costing the district tens of thousands of dollars in construction penalties.
Police arrested three of the protesters without incident before finding the fourth hiding in an attic.
