Due to the below-freezing temperatures forecast for tonight, the Salvation Army will open an Emergency Cold Weather Shelter at 2525 Rucker Ave., Everett.
The Emergency Cold Weather Shelter will be open to receive guests from 8 p.m to 10 p.m. The entry is in the alley. After 10 p.m., police will still be able to make drop offs. The shelter closes at 7 a.m. Thursday.
The cold weather shelter is opened every time the weather is forecast to be 32 degrees and raining, or at 32 degrees or lower for more than four hours.
Poet Walk: There’s something new and literary coming to the Edmonds Art Walk, which is held from 5 to 7 p.m. the third Thursday of each month in downtown Edmonds.
The Poet Walk will make its debut with Sheri LaVay reading at 7 p.m. Thursday at Cafe Louvre, 210 Fifth Ave. S., Edmonds. LaVay will read “Blank Canvas,” Poet Walk’s featured poem this month, and some of her other works. She is a member of EPIC Group Writers, a local writing group.
Each month, a local poet or poets will read their works and meet the public as part of the art walk. If you are interested in being a featured poet, contact Poet Walk director Kaylee Tilton, 425-328-9622.
