The Affordable Care Act is a terrible piece of bloated-government legislation. And it is a law I support (if not happily). How is that possible, you may ask? I have empathy for others. I would rather have this abysmal law that tries to ensure every American has a chance to live a healthy life, than what we had before.
Society is a social contract whereby people set aside their animal nature which is to take whatever they can get away with by whatever force they have available. America is heavily Darwinist in its business practices and the tea party types want to apply that to every aspect of our society. If that is where we are headed, then we should forget the pretense of a social contract and go back to our animal nature because the logical end product of tea party philosophy is the same sort of “survival of the fittest” anarchy.
The only right-wing solution I’ve heard coherently promoted is to overturn the ACA and revert to health-care Darwinism. The right-wing dominated House has enshrined its “solution” in nearly 50 attempts to repeal the ACA rather than providing a single replacement option for a vote. If the law is so bad (which it is), it should be easy for the right-wing to come up with a better solution. It would be great to see that heavily “Christian” crowd demonstrate they “love one another” and not just their money.
