TACOMA — A sex offender climbed the first of three fences at the Special Commitment Center on McNeil Island in an escape attempt before he was recaptured.
The News Tribune reported that the 44-year-old man hopped a chain link fence Sept. 28 but didn’t make it past a razor wire fence and an electric fence before an employee caught up with him.
He has been confined since August 2011 at the center that treats sex offenders considered too dangerous to go free after their prison terms.
