Thurmond suspension official; Seahawks sign Perrish Cox
Thurmond will be eligible to rejoin the team on Monday, Dec. 23, and can play in Seattle's final regular season game against St. Louis, as well as the postseason.
With that roster spot now open and the Seahawks thin at cornerback, the team has signed Perrish Cox, a free agent who most recently played in San Francisco, and was released earlier this month. Cox, a fifth-round pick in 2010, worked out for the Seahawks earlier this month following his release.
Cox has appeared in 40 games in his career, starting nine, and has 71 career tackles, one interception, two forced fumbles and 16 passes defensed.
Here is the statement from a league spokesman on the suspension:
"Walter Thurmond of the Seattle Seahawks has been suspended without pay for the team's next four games for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse.
"Thurmond will be eligible to return to the Seahawks' active roster on Monday, December 23 following the team's December 22 game against the Arizona Cardinals."
