Art at the Arlington Eagle Festival: Arlington Arts Council’s art show reception, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 31, Magnolia Hall, 102 E. Third St. Entertainment by the Brass Menagerie. The council’s Rock, Paper, Scissors Art Show continues 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 1. Enjoy depictions of Northwest flora and fauna as created by local artists. A show by famed Tulalip Tribes artist James Madison and family opens Feb. 10 and runs through March 14. The “Generations 2” exhibit at EvCC’s Russell Day Gallery will feature traditional Coast Salish and Tlingit artwork in contemporary mediums such as glass, bronze and stainless steel. A reception at 6 p.m. Feb. 13 features the Northern Star Dancers. Many of James Madison’s large-scale pieces can be seen at the Tulalip Resort and Casino, including a 24-foot story pole. His work has been displayed in Washington, New York, New Mexico and Canada, including in downtown Everett and at Everett Community College, and on the TV show “Grey’s Anatomy.” He was named Snohomish County Artist of the Year in 2013.

Students used 35mm film cameras, cell phone camera and a 4 by 5 view camera to capture people and aspects of their lives. The class was taught by Herald photographers Annie and Mark Mulligan. The art show “Pets on Parade IV” runs through Feb. 6. It’s a tribute to pets through the eyes of the artists who love them.
