If you want to go out in the woods and cut your tree, you’ll need a permit.
They are available through Dec. 24 at ranger stations and at REI for national forest lands in Snohomish, Skagit, King, Pierce and Whatcom counties.
Permits are $10 each to cut one tree with a height limit of 12 feet. You may also need a Sno-Park permit for parking in some of the areas.
Maps and information about cutting areas are provided where permits are sold.
Check with the ranger station before setting out to cut your tree because many of the roads may be snow-covered and require high-clearance vehicles and tire chains.
Christmas tree permits available at these locations. Call first to check on hours.
