By the bay: Everett launches into the season with Holiday on the Bay on Saturday at the Port of Everett Waterfront Center, 1205 Craftsman Way. The family-friendly events include rides on the city’s antique fire truck (3 to 6 p.m.), classic holiday flicks (4 to 6 p.m.), choir singing (4:30 to 6:30 p.m.) and the tree lighting at 6 p.m. followed by a lighted boat parade.
Sugar plums: More than 50 dancers will fill the PUD auditorium in “A Child’s Storybook: The Nutcracker” at 6 p.m. Friday and 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $15 here and at the door if available. Sparkling trees: The Festival of Trees is at Comcast Arena on from 1 to 6 p.m. on Saturday. In addition to enjoying the beautifully decorated trees, families can enjoy the live entertainment, make crafts and visit with Santa. Free. Get more info here.
Santa Paws: Your whole family, four-legged or two-legged, can have photos taken with Santa Paws from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at the Everett Animal Shelter. Get more info here.
Big band: Sky Performing Arts salutes World War II and the USO with its big band production, “In the Mood,” at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at Historic Everett Theatre. Tickets are $16 and $18 here, at the box office or by calling 425-258-6766.
A piece of Pied: The Village Theatre Pied Piper program will lead your kids through an afternoon of fun as they present “The Elves and the Shoemaker” at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Everett Performing Arts Center. For families: The Joe Gonzales trio talks about and performs the soundtrack from “A Charlie Brown Christmas” at 7:30 Saturday night at Tim Noah Thumbnail Theater, 1211 Fourth St., Snohomish. Tickets are $15 online or call 360-568-9412 to check availability.
Papercraft: The Mukilteo Library offers a workshop on Jongi Jeopgi, the Korean version of origami, from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday for teens and adults. Registration is necessary, so call 425-493-8202 to see if there are openings.
“Lights of Christmas”: See more than 1 million lights at Warm Beach Camp near Stanwood. You’ll also find Victorian carolers, musicians, a Polar Express Train and pony rides for tots, as well as meals, snacks and refreshments. It’s open Thursdays through Sundays. Get more info in our story here.
Santa’s coming: Mill Creek will welcome Santa on Saturday. A Santa parade starts on Main Street at 3:30 p.m. and a tree lighting ceremony will follow. Holiday events will be going on at Town Center all day. Get more info here.
Holiday sounds: The 80 voices of the Everett Chorale present their annual holiday concert at 7:30 Saturday night and 3 p.m. Sunday at the Everett Performing Arts Center, 2710 Wetmore Ave. Tickets are $14 and $16 by calling 425-257-8600. Also, the Northwest Chorale will present a free full performance of Handel’s “Messiah” at 6:30 Saturday evening at Edmonds United Methodist Church, 828 Caspers St., Edmonds. Offerings for the local food bank will be accepted.
Snow! Gold Creek Church in Mill Creek will turn into a winter wonderland on Saturday. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. there will be sledding, stories, reindeer, train rides and photos ops with Santa. For those who want more adventure, there will be go-karts and ziplining. The church is at 4326 148th St. SE, Mill Creek. The event is free, but people are encouraged to bring food for the food bank.
