A recent article in National Review online about the sign-up for ACA said that out of 176,468 people who enrolled in the Washington state’s Healthplanfinder exchange, over 91,000 are newly eligible for expanded Medicaid and more than 66,000 were currently eligible but were not enrolled. That leaves only 18,131 who purchased private policies. An additional 43,000 people have completed application for private plans but have yet to submit payment, which is due Dec. 23 for coverage to begin Jan. 1. Current insurance sales are only about 14 percent of projected goals. Does anyone out there really think this plan will work? When the smoke clears, Washington will have a huge increase in people on Medicaid. The feds have agreed to supplement the cost of this for three years but in the end Washington taxpayers will have to foot the bill. What a joke.
