Notes from Pete Carroll's Wednesday presser
"He won’t practice today, he’s rehabbing," Pete Carroll said. "It’s week to week, we’re trying to figure this thing out, then when he gets on the practice field then it’s truly day to day and we’ll see how he responds. As of today, he won’t be going. That means he’s running in his rehab work, then we have to see if he can tolerate it and come back and give us a couple days of work. We’ll have to make sure he’s right, so we’re going to take our time. I know it seems like, ‘how can you take you’re time when you’re this close to the end of the season?’ But we still have to do that to take care of him."
Asked if there has been a change in Harvin's status, Carroll said, "It has fluctuated. He’s gone back and forth where he’s gotten close, then it got aggravated a little bit. He just hasn’t quite gotten over the hump where he’s really clear. He has a whole lot of new movement in that hip that he hasn’t had before and he’s trying to become accustomed to that."
On bringing back Perrish Cox two weeks after signing him and releasing him a day apart, Carroll said, "We liked Perrish before, and now we’ve got a chance to keep him in here, so we got him."
Bringing in Cox, a cornerback, to replace injured safety Jeron Johnson means DeShawn Shead will now focus on playing safety more than corner.
"We’ve prepared him to do that all year long, and he’ll focus this time inside, so that’s why we went and got the corner," Carroll said.
Carroll had nothing new on K.J. Wright other than to say the linebacker had surgery in North Carolina Wednesday morning.
Center Max Unger went through Wednesday morning's walkthrough, but will not practice this afternoon, Carroll said, but the hope is "We’ll get him back out there hopefully tomorrow, or Friday for sure."
Carroll said the rotation at left guard between James Carpenter and Paul McQuistan will continue, with Carpenter getting the start for a second straight game.
