EVERETT — A son who allegedly broke into his parents’ home to steal a handgun Wednesday afternoon is in hot water with the law.
The man, 21, was with two friends when he reportedly entered the home in the 1400 block of Colby Avenue shortly after 3 p.m., Everett police officer Aaron Snell said.
His mother came home and spotted him leaving with a gun, Snell said.
She followed him and contacted her husband, according to police reports.
The father confronted his son — the suspect — in the 1900 block of Wetmore Avenue. Before being disarmed, the suspect allegedly pointed the gun at his father, Snell said.
Police took the son into custody.
One of the suspect’s friends allegedly ran off with the gun. He was detained in the 2100 block of Broadway.
The son was expected to be booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of burglary and domestic violence assault.
The other man was being interviewed by police Wednesday evening.
