Holiday events, music and more weekend fun

Cozy caroling: Go a-caroling and still keep warm. The Dickens Carolers, a group of Victorian-costumed singers, will lead a holiday sing-along from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Evergreen Branch of the Everett Public Library. Local music Everett band I Will Keep Your Ghost has a release party on Saturday for their new album, “It’s Natural.” They will be sharing the stage with up-and-coming Seattle acts Vox Mod and Kairos. History buffs: Monroe Historical Society is holding a holiday open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday to unveil a new exhibit on Monroe schools. The event includes refreshments and activities for kids. Arts and crafts: A holiday sale of fine arts and crafts is from noon to 6 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Schack Art Center in Everett. The first 50 people through the door on Friday will receive a free gift. On Saturday, wine from Wicked Cellars will be served from noon to 5 p.m. for “Shop and Sip.”Get more info here.

Light: Check out beeswax candles handmade by Orthodox Christian nuns in Stanwood. You can also try your hand at candle-making and visit with the nuns and volunteers. The Quiet Light Christmas Festival is at the Convent of the Meeting of the Lord, 29206 64th Ave. NW in Stanwood. It runs through Dec. 21. Darth Vader for charity: Vader’s 501st Garrison Titan Group will come in professional costumes to BobaKhan’s annual Star Wars Christmastime Holiday Food Drive from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the toy store, 2916 Hewitt Ave., Everett. The event benefits the Volunteers of America Food Bank in Everett. Bring a nonperishable food donation and have your picture taken with Darth Vader, Boba Fett, Stormtroopers, Imperial Officers and many more. A raffle to benefit charity also will be held. Country style: Head to Historic Everett Theatre at 7:30 Saturday night for the Hometown Hootenanny with traditional and country songs, all with a holiday flair, a dessert auction and a visit from Santa. Get more info in our story here.

A chorus or two: Enjoy more songs of the season and sing-alongs at 8 p.m. Saturday at Everett Civic Auditorium, 2415 Colby, as the Seattle Men’s Chorus presents “Play It Again, Santa.” Tickets are $23 to $43 and available here or by calling 206-388-1400.

Ballet: Olympic Ballet’s production of “The Nutcracker” takes the stage at 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday and 1 and 5 p.m. Sunday at the Everett Performing Arts Center. Get more info in our story here.

Sweet: Mountlake Terrace Library’s Winter Extravaganza, Sweet Science, is from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Kids ages 5 to 11 can do some scientific experimenting with sweet treats. The library is at 23300 58th Ave. W., Mountlake Terrace. The event is free. Call 425-776-8722 for more info.

Flight night: It’s the Night of the Elves at Imagine Children’s Museum. You can drop off your children, ages 4 to 12, from 5:30 to 8:30 Saturday night and escape to shop, eat, whatever, for three hours. The kids’ll be fed, entertained and allowed to skate on the carpet. As you might expect, this event sells out, so call to see if there’s room: 425-258-1006. Nonmembers pay $40 for the first child and $25 each for siblings. The member prices are $35 and $20.

Family friendly Scrooge: You can choose between two versions of “A Christmas Carol” on Sunday. The play is at 2 and 4 p.m. on Sunday in Everett. “A Kaddywompas Christmas Carol” also plays Sunday, this one is at 2 p.m and 7:30 p.m. in Snohomish. Get all the details in our story here.

Flying Santa: This weekend, Santa will fly his new Staggerwing to the Historic Flight Foundation. Visit and take photos with the jolly old elf at noon Saturday. There will be homemade cookies, cider and hot chocolate. More information here.

Sing along: Hear and sing Christmas music at the Skagit Symphony Holiday Concert. The event is from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday in Mount Vernon. Cost is $5 to $40. Tickets here.
